Obagi Nu-Derm System

Obagi Nu-Derm is an FDA approved medical grade six step skin care system designed to address pigmentation issues, superficial fine lines, and the evening out of skin tone and texture. The Obagi Nu-Derm line is different than any other skincare product. It works below the surface of your skin, accelerating cellular turnover and revealing healthy skin.

There are two different options, in this system, which are available to patients: normal/oily or normal/dry. During your consultation, your licensed medical aesthetician will determine which option is better suited for your skin. Each option is comprised of six steps.

Step 1: Cleanser (AM/PM)

Foaming Cleanser (normal/oily)
Gentle Cleanser (normal/dry)
This product removes any surface debris and oils from the skin.

Step 2: Toner (AM/PM)

Toner is suitable for all skin types. Nu-Derm Toner will remove anything that is left on the skin the cleanser did not pick up. It also balances the pH of your skin to help the active products penetrate.

Step 3: Clear (AM/PM)

Clear contains prescription strength 4% hydroquinone to even out hyperpigmentation and tone of your skin.

Step 4: Exfoliation (AM)

Exfoderm Forte (normal/oily) is blended with 6% glycolic acid and 4% lactic acid to remove surface dead skin cells that need a deeper exfoliation.

Exfoderm (normal/dry) is for patients who need a resurfacing treatment but not as deep. This product contains 3% phytic acid to promote cellular turnover.

Step 5: Blender & Tretinoin (PM)

Blender can be used on any skin type. It is used to help increase the penetration of all active ingredients in the system and contains 4% hydroquinone to help with dense pigmented issues. This line is highly recommended to use in conjunction with a 0.05% or 0.1% Tretinoin (Retin-A) cream depending on your specific skin issues. Your licensed aesthetician will choose the percentage to assist in additional cellular turnover revealing younger skin.

Step 6: Sunscreen (AM)

The Healthy Skin Protection SPF 35, Broad-Spectrum UVA/UVB Sunscreen
is a product that can be used on any skin type. It has 9% micronized zinc oxide and 7.5% octinoxate. The purpose is to help protect your newly transformed, younger-looking skin.

Most patients find that the first six weeks are the most difficult because the products are working hard to achieve one thing: cellular turnover. You may see dryness or redness and possible itching until your skin adapts to the system. At about seven to twelve weeks you will notice an overall difference as far as the tone and texture in your skin and you should see your skin becoming acclimated to the system. By eighteen weeks you will notice collagen production, firmer skin, and an overall improved clarity. With ongoing maintenance you can maintain these results long term with Obagi’s Nu-Derm line.

Full size bottles are available at your dispense and will last approximately six months. Travel kits are available if you have never been on this system before. The kit gives you a three month supply and should be measured out in specific dosages. You can begin this product at any age, and if you are happy with the results of this line, you can use the Obagi products for life.
